On the 1st of March, Romanians celebrate the Martisor so I took the opportunity to find some inspiration off line. It was a good move as the weather was great.
The village museum is placed in Bucharest’s largest Park. The museum exhibits houses from the 18th and 19th century from the major areas of Romania. All exhibitions are original and have been dismantled and brought to Bucharest. You can find more pictures on Flickr
For the first seven years of my life I grew up in the countryside with my grandparents and a lot of these traditions are still kept by villagers so I shouldn’t have been that impressed, right? I wasn’t impressed, I was astounded by the beautiful work that my people made. Using basic colors like white, black, yellow, green and red the intricate models take life. The paintings resemble the Naïve Art, but this is not just a style. It is a way of life, a way to feel the world around you.

I suggest you shut down the computer and go to museums, art exhibitions, ballet, opera. Disconnect yourself from this digital world and your creative juices will flow!
